@Cantelope
Yeah saw the site today, great videos - but their site still won't be indexed by the search engines based on how it was built. Looks good, but with anything you do in flash, you need a second layer under it.

@Joy Daniels
The cash was spend on some great video production. Most likely a web studio was hired to build out the site, that is where a ball was dropped from the marketing perspective. It would take maybe 5 hours to SEO that site for terms like "bloody lucky" and "bloody lucky videos".

@I was there
From a knowledge perspective, if I had used "bloody lucky" in my title it would be first right now. I wanted to avoid that, as I think it is a great campaign (and this story isn't meant to take away from that).

Thanks for the great comments!

@andymurd

Should I change my article title to say Bloody Lucky ;)

Just kidding, I don't want to tick anyone off (despite the fact that this shouldn't be a problem for them).

Thanks Devlin, very true on people associating the Google search bar with the address bar.

It is a simple test to see if your site is easy to find too, I hope this article can create some awareness and encourage people to add it to their expectations and/or considerations.

Cheers.

How lazy! It would take an extra ten minutes to make the white text in HTML instead of an image.

When they finally launch, bloodylucky.ca are going to be competing against this page for their own brand.

Wow you know it's bad if you search the actual website name and it doesn't even show up! Most people associate Google with the only way to find a website, lots of people don't even use the address bar. Every single page of a website should be indexable with content, at the very least with keywords related to the name of your site.

Great post Mike. Sending this around the office now :)
